Servicing Schneider Eletric / Xantrex GT Inverters
Secure maximum yields
Why a 10 year maintenance?
This is why maintaining your inverter is so important
Inverter technology
The inverter is the heart of a PV system. Here, the direct current generated by the solar modules is bundled and converted into alternating current, which in turn is transported via the downstream transformer in the desired voltage level to the grid connection point, if possible with a very high level of efficiency.
The average planned running time of solar power plants is usually at least 20 years, sometimes even 30 years and more. Although low-maintenance and low-wear, solar systems are not maintenance-free. The inverter in particular requires regular inspections and maintenance to ensure smooth and safe operation.

Due to the aging of the built-in electronic components, the probability of failures increases over the course of the operating time, sometimes with serious dangers and consequences for the inverter or the technician. A common cause of an inverter defect is the wear and tear of electrolytic capacitors on control boards. Bloating of the capacitors and the resulting defects can cause the IGBT to malfunction and lead to serious failures. With delivery times of sometimes more than 30 weeks for such special circuit boards, there can be long downtimes.
As part of the 10-year maintenance, the evaluation, measurement and control boards of the inverters of the Schneider / Xantrex GT series are replaced as a preventative measure in order to enable continued safe and trouble-free operation, increase availability and maximize yield.

Operational Safety and Risks
The operational reliability of the inverters is increased by replacing critical components of the power electronics. After 10 years or more of operation, signs of wear on the electronics lead to a higher frequency of errors in the control of the IGBT. This leads to unnecessary heat loss and additional thermal stress on the electronic components and, in the worst case, to incorrect control of the IGBT and the associated risk of fire and explosion.
These so-called phase crashes can destroy the inverter and lead to serious injuries if a person is present in the inverter building at the same time. In order to maximize the safety of the technicians working on the equipment, maintaining the operational safety of the inverters is our top priority.

Scope of inverter maintenance
This is included in the 10-year maintenance
Based on our decades of experience in the maintenance and repair of industrial and solar inverters, our team of experts recommends replacing the following components as part of the 10-year maintenance of Schneider / Xantrex GT inverters, taking into account the manufacturer’s specifications and component life cycles (mean time of failure). :
- DC/DC CONVT PCB (A2)
- MOTHERBOARD MEASURING (A3)
- MOTHERBOARD EXAMINATION (A4)
- IGNITION DISTRIBUTER BOX (ignition distributor A5, A50, A51, A52, A53)
- BOARD DOUBLE TRIG (A914, A936, A952)
- module driver
- Power pack 24V DC (G3)
- Universal switching device interference suppression module (Z1, Z2)
- fuse; Capsule fuse (F6, F7)
- DILEM-10(230V50HZ,240V60HZ) (K10)
- 04 DIL E (for K10)

In addition, a review and optimization of the parameter list and a refresh of the EEPROM on the inverter CCU are recommended. This can extend the life of the CCU board and reduce the error rate.
In addition, we offer free data analysis of the inverters when providing monitoring access. Inefficiencies and malfunctions of the inverters can thus be quickly identified.
